Despite the best attempts to keep on top of cleaning, it's easy for dirt to build up, especially in the kitchen. One area that can be hard to tackle is the kitchen cupboards, with handles and doors often becoming magnets for grease when cooking. And it's stuck on grease like this that can be particularly hard to shift. I've had that problem, especially on the units around the hob, so when I heard about an easy solution to get them sparkling again, I had to give it a go. Click here to keep up to date with the latest Family news in our newsletter The idea came from a cleaning influencer on social media, who shared a simple DIY solution using natural ingredients, with no scrubbing involved. Chantel Mila, also known as @mama_mila_ on TikTok , posted a video about how to clean your kitchen cabinets using just two simple ingredients you've more than likely already got at home - lemon and the bicarbonate of soda you use in baking. All you need is a bowl, about 70g of the soda and some lemon juice. Following her guide, I added a teaspoon of lemon juice to the soda and then mixed in 250ml of warm water to combine all the ingredients. I then applied the mixture to the doors with sweeping circular motions, and left it to sit for five minutes so the mixture could do its job. I found that not all the soda had dissolved, but I scooped up the solution anyway and spread it about with the cloth to give all the surface a thorough coating and help break down the grime. Some of the tougher bits did need a bit of a scrub. To finish, I used a warm, damp cloth to wipe the solution away and I could immediately see it had made a massive difference. Some bits of grime that had been so hard to shift had finally vanished. The remaining lemon water was poured down the sink to freshen it up and help loosen any blockages down there too. Captioning her video, Chantel said: "Say goodbye to tough grease on your kitchen cabinets. This mix is one of my favourites at cutting through tough grease and leaving your kitchen cabinets looking new again." And I'm not the only one who's tried it. Her followers have been equally impressed, including one who said: 'Such useful tips! I tried them and they worked." Do you have a cleaning tip that's worked for you?
