The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA) has introduced an online complaint filing mechanism for homebuyers to address unlawful demands from developers, particularly concerning excessive transfer charges. This initiative follows the implementation of the 10th Amendment to the UPRERA General Regulations, 2019, which sets maximum permissible transfer and processing charges. Under the new rules, promoters are restricted from charging more than Rs 1,000 for processing fees in cases of family transfers, while fees for non-family transfers are capped at Rs 25,000. This consumer-centric reform aims to curb arbitrary charges that have previously caused financial distress among allottees. The complaint process is designed to enhance transparency and accountability in the real estate sector, empowering homebuyers to seek relief directly from UPRERA. To file a complaint, users must log in to the UPRERA portal, complete Form-M, and pay a complaint fee of Rs 1,000.
