The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has introduced a technology-driven Monsoon Action Plan 2026 to tackle waterlogging issues during the rainy season. This initiative includes robotic surveys of covered drains, GIS mapping of the drainage network, and the installation of high-capacity pumps at vulnerable locations like Sarojini Nagar. Vice-chairman Kuljeet Chahal reported that around 85% of the robotic survey work is complete, with desilting being conducted at an estimated cost of ₹3.5 crore (roughly $420,000 USD). The NDMC has also reduced the number of vulnerable waterlogging points from 14 to 5, with ongoing installation of CCTV cameras and sensor-based monitoring systems to enhance response during heavy rainfall. The drainage network spans 578 kilometers, featuring 11,907 manholes and 14,264 gully gratings, and is designed to efficiently channel stormwater into local nullahs. The plan emphasizes regular updates and maintenance of the drainage system to ensure effective management throughout the year.
