In a significant crackdown, the Jharkhand Police seized narcotics and illicit liquor worth over ₹2.54 crore (approximately $305,000 USD) and arrested seven individuals across five districts. The largest seizure occurred in Khunti district, where police intercepted a truck carrying 1,388 kg of poppy husk valued at around ₹2.08 crore. The vehicle, registered in Pilibhit district, Uttar Pradesh, was abandoned by the driver upon spotting police. Additional operations led to the arrest of two suspected drug peddlers in Ramgarh, with police seizing 14.52 grams of brown sugar and ₹55,000 in cash. In Simdega district, three alleged drug peddlers were apprehended with 43 kg of ganja valued at approximately ₹21.5 lakh. The police also recovered firearms during this operation. Furthermore, an illicit liquor manufacturing unit was discovered in Upper Khakhara village, leading to the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of 250 cases of counterfeit foreign liquor and substantial quantities of prepared liquor. This extensive operation aligns with directives from Chief Minister Hemant Soren to intensify efforts against narcotics networks.
