Following the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly election, Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is poised to form the government after securing support from the Indian National Congress, which won five seats. Additionally, the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) and Left parties, including the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)], have also pledged their backing to TVK, helping it move closer to the majority threshold of 118 seats in the 234-member assembly. Despite winning 108 seats, TVK faces hurdles as Governor Rajendra Arlekar has requested evidence of majority support before formally inviting Vijay to form the government. Political uncertainty persists, with speculation about possible maneuvers by the DMK and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) to hinder TVK's ascent, although the DMK has denied such alliance discussions. With the backing of Congress, VCK, and the Left, Vijay's TVK is nearing a significant political milestone in its first Tamil Nadu Assembly election.
