The Pune Metro's Phase-II expansion took a significant step forward with the commencement of casting work for the Swargate-Katraj corridor. Inaugurated by Shravan Hardikar, managing director of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MahaMetro), this project aims to improve connectivity in Pune's densely populated southern areas and ease congestion on the busy Satara Road. The corridor will link Swargate, a major transport hub, with Katraj, a developing residential and commercial zone. Senior officials from MahaMetro, including Vinod Kumar Agrawal, Harendra Pandey, and Atul Gadgil, were present at the inauguration. Hardikar emphasized the importance of safety, quality, and timely completion of the project, which is expected to provide faster and more reliable travel for thousands of commuters, thereby reducing reliance on private vehicles.
