An industrial accident at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in Andhra Pradesh led to the deaths of eight workers and left six others injured, two of whom are in critical condition. The incident occurred when a significant amount of molten steel leaked from the SMS-2 and STC-3 heat facility during operations. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu conducted a review with state officials and the Visakhapatnam District Collector, who provided updates on the situation and medical treatment for the injured. In response to the tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and announced financial assistance from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF), including an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. Emergency teams are actively involved in rescue operations, and investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the leak and any safety violations that may have contributed to the accident.
