In Lucknow, a 55-year-old woman, who owns a stationery store, was subjected to molestation and violence by an autorickshaw driver and his aide on Saturday evening. The woman had hailed the auto via an app from Engineering Chauraha to her home in Gomti Nagar. During the ride, driver Sunny Kashyap, aged 28, and his associate began to sexually harass her. When she resisted and raised an alarm, they assaulted her, attempting to silence her by throttling her. After she continued to fight back, they forcibly pushed her out of the moving vehicle near CNS Hospital on Ring Road. Despite sustaining injuries, she survived and reported the incident to the police. Authorities acted swiftly, forming special teams to locate the suspects. One accomplice, Sumit Kashyap, aged 19, was arrested shortly after the incident. The main accused, Sunny, was found later and injured during a police encounter when he attempted to shoot at the officers. He was apprehended and taken to the hospital, where an illegal firearm was also recovered from him. Police records indicate that Sunny has previous serious charges against him in Sitapur.
