Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed that a bomb-like object discovered at Usha Kiran Hospital in Hadapsar posed no explosive threat. The object, reported by a doctor, led to a swift evacuation and a significant police response. The suspect, Shivaji Rathod, aged 30, allegedly fashioned the device after watching instructional videos online, intending to extort money from the hospital due to a large medical bill. He was arrested at Nagpur railway station after police tracked his movements. Investigators found a digital clock kit at his residence, which was used to assemble the device. Following the incident, police intensified surveillance around hospitals and public areas in Pune. The police have registered a case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those related to attempted murder and negligent conduct with explosive substances. Forensic tests confirmed that the object contained no explosives, alleviating immediate security concerns.
