Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Italy has culminated in the establishment of a Special Strategic Partnership, marked by 15 key outcomes aimed at enhancing cooperation across various sectors including trade, defense, and culture. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that this upgrade reflects a mutual commitment to deepen engagement in areas such as technology, clean energy, and innovation. A significant aspect of the visit was the signing of a Defence Industrial Roadmap, which aims to boost joint development and manufacturing capabilities. Additionally, an MoU on critical minerals was agreed upon to secure supply chains for emerging technologies.

Culturally, both nations will observe 2027 as the Year of Culture and Tourism, fostering tourism and cultural exchanges. Other agreements include enhancing academic partnerships through a roadmap on higher education, promoting sustainable agriculture practices, and facilitating the mobility of Indian nurses to Italy. PM Modi emphasized that the partnership will benefit not just India and Italy, but also contribute positively to global humanity, as it aims to enhance investment flows and cultural ties.
