The film, which also includes stars like Abhishek Bachchan, Genelia Deshmukh, and Sanjay Dutt, depicts the early life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a key figure in Indian history known for establishing the Maratha Empire. Deshmukh shared that Khan's involvement came about during a New Year’s conversation, where Khan expressed his desire to join the project, stating, 'You can’t make the film without me.' The film is produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh under the Mumbai Film Company and presented by Jio Studios.
