Raja Shivaji, the upcoming Marathi historical action film directed by and starring Riteish Deshmukh, is poised for a record-breaking box office debut. The film, which portrays the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his conflicts with Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, has already achieved significant success in advance ticket sales, with 1 lakh tickets sold and a gross of ₹2.5 crore. Predictions suggest that the film will earn between ₹6-7 crore in net collections on its opening day in Marathi, while the Hindi version is expected to contribute over ₹1 crore. This performance would surpass the previous record held by the film Sairat, which opened with ₹4.2 crore in 2016. However, comparisons with Hindi films such as Tanhaji and Chhaava, which opened with ₹15 crore and ₹30 crore respectively, are deemed unnecessary. Raja Shivaji features a notable cast including Sanjay Dutt and Abhishek Bachchan, and is set to release in theaters on May 1.
