As schools in the UAE return to in-person learning, Schools Transport Services (STS) has announced a 60% reduction in transport fees for April. This decision comes after a seven-week period of remote learning, during which students did not utilize bus services. STS, which operates approximately 4,000 buses for 120,000 students across 96 schools, stated that the fee adjustment reflects the operational realities during this transitional period. Parents who have made advance payments will see these amounts credited against future invoices, easing the financial burden during this time. STS's Chief Executive Officer, Steve Burnell, emphasized that school transport is structured as an annual service, requiring consistent investment in safety and compliance. The company is prepared to manage fluctuating demand and ensure that transport services align with school reopening schedules.
