Ohio State University has published a report detailing the circumstances surrounding the resignation of its former president, Walter Carter Jr., due to an inappropriate relationship with a female associate, Krisanthe Vlachos. The report indicates that Carter, who previously served as a Navy admiral, acknowledged this relationship upon his resignation last month. The investigation found that he utilized his position to assist Vlachos extensively, both within and outside the university. Their relationship reportedly began in 2023 when Carter was still president of the University of Nebraska system. After joining Ohio State, he allowed this relationship to impair his judgment. The report noted that Carter arranged for Vlachos to bypass standard protocols to visit his office and documented at least five trips they took together to various cities, including Richmond, Virginia, and Las Vegas, Nevada. Although the university did not cover Vlachos's expenses, Carter allegedly fabricated business reasons for these trips. Concerns about their relationship surfaced after they were seen together outside a hotel in Philadelphia in November 2025, prompting further scrutiny.
