The Delhi Police have successfully dismantled an inter-state cyber fraud syndicate, arresting 14 individuals allegedly involved in fraudulent activities amounting to over ₹8 crore (approximately $960,000 USD). The police action followed a tip-off received on April 25, leading to a raid at a hotel in the Geeta Colony area of New Delhi. The suspects, hailing from various states including Punjab, Telangana, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, and Madhya Pradesh, targeted job seekers through social media and messaging platforms, offering fake work-from-home opportunities and part-time jobs. During the investigation, police discovered that the gang utilized mule bank accounts to transfer and conceal the cheated money, with links to 40 complaints on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, involving transactions worth around ₹1.5 crore (approximately $180,000 USD). The police also recovered several items, including 18 mobile phones, 19 SIM cards, and 3 ATM cards, which were allegedly used in the fraud operations. The investigation continues as authorities delve deeper into this organized cyber crime network.
