In a shocking breach of confidentiality, Pratap Narayan Yadav, the Collector of Damoh district in Madhya Pradesh, India, uncovered an internal espionage ring operating from his office. The issue came to light when confidential details about a planned surprise inspection were leaked almost immediately after being discussed. Yadav's suspicions were piqued when an external caller inquired about the inspection plan before anyone had left his office. To expose the leak, he conducted a sting operation by playing a loud news broadcast on his mobile phone and discovered that the same audio could be heard through a receiver in the adjoining staff area. This suggested that conversations from his chamber were being monitored in real time. Following the revelation, immediate action was taken: Assistant Grade-3 Sachin Khare was suspended, Clerk Ajay Kumar Asati was sent back to his parent department, and office attendant Jaydev Ahirwar was also removed from the Collectorate. The telephone receivers used for interception have been seized for forensic examination, as Yadav suspects this unauthorized monitoring may have been occurring for years, raising serious concerns about the security of sensitive government information.
