Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan conducted a review meeting on preparations for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, scheduled for June 21, 2026. This meeting followed the cancellation of the original exam due to significant overlaps with a leaked question paper, which affected over 2.2 million students. Pradhan stressed the importance of conducting the re-exam in a secure and transparent manner, urging officials to address all identified gaps from the previous examination process. He directed coordination with district magistrates and police to ensure effective monitoring and security at examination centers. Adequate arrangements for students, including transportation and essential facilities, were also emphasized. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is actively investigating the leak, having arrested 10 individuals, including educators associated with the National Testing Agency (NTA). To enhance security measures, the NTA is transitioning to a computer-based examination format starting next year. Pradhan's focus remains on ensuring the integrity of the upcoming re-examination while maintaining vigilance against potential malpractices.
