The Maharashtra government is set to invest ₹2,500 crore to develop 100 tourism sub-circuits across its five divisions over the next five years. Each circuit will receive ₹25 crore aimed at enhancing tourism infrastructure, creating jobs, and significantly increasing tourist footfall by 2047. The initiative will focus on specialized tourism sectors, including forts, culinary tourism, and pilgrimage tourism, to position Maharashtra as a leading tourist destination. Currently, the state has five major tourism circuits, and this plan seeks to expand the tourism landscape by identifying and developing more destinations. Additionally, the government is developing a digital tourism portal to integrate nearly 100,000 tourism units, providing a one-stop platform for tourists to access information on destinations, accommodations, and transport facilities, thereby making travel planning more seamless.
