During a gathering in Aranthangi, K Annamalai, the former president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu, launched a strong critique of the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government. He asserted that the AIADMK would reclaim power in the upcoming elections on May 4. Annamalai highlighted a significant decline in beneficiaries of the ₹6,000 annual assistance program in Pudhukottai, which he claimed dropped from 1.37 lakh before 2021 to 83,000 under DMK's governance. He also dismissed DMK's claims regarding the introduction of 50% reservation for women in local body elections, stating that this initiative was originally proposed by the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Furthermore, Annamalai criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for prioritizing national issues over effective governance in Tamil Nadu.
