A 79-year-old man, Ashok Mahadev Raut, tragically lost his life in a highway accident on the Mumbai-Goa Highway near Mahad in Raigad district, Maharashtra, India. The incident occurred around 5:45 PM when Raut's family was traveling towards Mumbai in a Swift Dzire car. They collided with a stationary container truck that was allegedly parked negligently, obstructing traffic. Raut sustained severe injuries and later died, while five family members, including a seven-year-old child, were injured and required medical treatment. The injured individuals are Seema Ashok Raut (76), Amit Ashok Raut (49), Sumit Ashok Raut (41), Geetanjali Sumit Raut (36), and Angad Sumit Raut (7), all residents of Kanjarpada in Dahisar West. Following the incident, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the truck driver, Muvin Isub, under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, citing negligence that endangered motorists.
