The Sarabha Nagar police in Ludhiana, Punjab, have registered a case against eight unidentified individuals for the alleged kidnapping of shopkeeper Tajuddin and his relative, Mohammad Sabar Khan. The incident, which occurred on February 21, involved the victims being abducted by men impersonating police officers from the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of the Ludhiana Police Commissionerate. The attackers suspected Tajuddin of having connections to a gambling racket after a passerby was cheated in a 'stagger game' near his tea and cigarette cart. Following the incident, the victims were forcibly taken to a farmhouse in Kheri Jhameri village, where they were assaulted. Sabar managed to share his location with relatives before being abducted, leading to their eventual rescue. Despite repeated complaints since February, police action was reportedly delayed until the FIR was filed after an investigation. The suspects have been charged under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code for kidnapping, wrongful confinement, and aggravated criminal intimidation, and police are working to identify them.
