M K Stalin, the outgoing Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, has stated that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) will allow the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief, C Joseph Vijay, to form a new government without interference for the next six months. This statement effectively quells rumors regarding a potential alliance between the DMK and the AIADMK party. Stalin expressed his desire for the new government to continue existing welfare initiatives, including the free breakfast scheme for schoolchildren and the Rs 1,000 monthly allowance for women heads of households under the 'Kalaignar magalir urimai thogai' scheme. He raised concerns about TVK's ability to fulfill its promises, particularly regarding financial support for women, stating that the commitment to provide Rs 2,500 monthly is challenging. The recent Tamil Nadu assembly election saw TVK emerge as the single-largest party with 108 seats, falling short of the majority by ten seats. Despite gaining support from Congress, TVK still requires additional alliances to form a government. The DMK secured 59 seats, while the AIADMK obtained 47 seats.
