The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party is set to meet its newly elected Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) at its headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on May 7. The meeting, chaired by party president M K Stalin, is significant given the recent political shifts in the state. The Congress party, previously a trusted ally of the DMK, has opted for a post-poll alliance with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), a new political entity. Additionally, the VCK (Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi) and left parties are also deliberating on whether to support the TVK in the formation of a government. The DMK, which secured 59 seats in the April 23 elections, is expected to elect Udhayanidhi Stalin as the leader of its legislative party and discuss its strategy as the opposition in the Assembly.
