Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi is set to enhance its international operations with the opening of Pier C in the first week of May. This new pier will increase the airport's international passenger handling capacity by approximately 50%, allowing for an additional 10 million passengers per annum. Following this change, Terminal 3 will have Piers A, B, and C dedicated to international flights, while Pier D will remain the sole domestic pier. The airport operator, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), emphasized that the conversion was integrated into the existing terminal infrastructure without requiring new construction. To improve efficiency and reduce waiting times, DIAL has introduced several upgrades, including 12 new self-baggage drop counters, 20 emigration counters, and advanced security screening systems. DIAL's CEO, Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, stated that this conversion strengthens the airport's capacity to support long-haul connectivity and aligns with India's ambition to become a global aviation hub.
