The Ghaziabad district administration has finalized a proposal to acquire 6.8 hectares of land for the long-term expansion of Hindon airport, with a budget of ₹63 crore (approximately $7.6 million USD) earmarked for land acquisition. The proposal has been sent to the state government for approval, and consent has already been obtained from 40 landholders, who will receive compensation at rates double the local circle rates. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) is planning significant upgrades to the airport's civil terminal, which currently operates on the Indian Air Force's Hindon runway and spans about 22,050 square meters. Planned enhancements include improved parking, food courts, and various passenger utilities. Additionally, a short-term improvement plan is underway, expected to be completed by August 15, which will augment seating, security, and air-conditioning facilities. The civil terminal has been operational since October 2019, serving passengers from Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar, Delhi, and other regions of western Uttar Pradesh.
