C Nianghaunuam, a 23-year-old woman from Manipur, has accused Amar, a professor at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, and his wife Anshu of subjecting her to severe abuse over nearly five years. She began working for the couple in 2019 as a nanny for their children. According to her police complaint, the abuse included physical violence, food deprivation, and isolation from the outside world. The situation reportedly worsened on April 15, 2026, when she was violently assaulted. On May 4, she was allegedly denied food for an entire day. A neighbor intervened, providing her with food and a means to contact her aunt in Bengaluru, who is affiliated with the Kuki Students Organisation. This led to her rescue and the filing of a police complaint on May 6, 2026, at Mico Layout Police Station. The police have opened an investigation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) but have not made any arrests as of yet.
