Thiyambarawatta Subash Indrajith, a 59-year-old director of Concordway, a vehicle import company in Singapore, has been fined SGD 1,068,000 and sentenced to two months' imprisonment for under-declaring the values of imported vehicles, including a Porsche 718 Cayman Style Edition. Between October 2018 and February 2024, he pleaded guilty to nine charges under the Customs Act, which involved evading over SGD 161,251 in duty on 34 imported vehicles. The court's decision was made on April 24, with ten additional charges considered during sentencing. The investigation was initiated after a suspiciously low declared value for a Porsche led customs officers to search Indrajith's residence, where he admitted to assisting clients in importing vehicles for commissions. His actions included providing false invoices and splitting payments to evade detection. If he fails to pay the fine by May 25, he faces an additional 12 months and two weeks in prison.
