On Wednesday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allocate a special grant of ₹6,000 crore (approximately $720 million USD) to bolster Bengaluru's infrastructure. During a meeting at HAL airport, he presented 17 demands, highlighting the city's vital role in the national economy. Among his key requests was the inclusion of the Bengaluru–Mysuru stretch in the proposed high-speed rail corridor, aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and development. Siddaramaiah also called for expedited assistance for the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project and the initiation of the Bengaluru–Mumbai high-speed rail corridor to link districts in Kittur Karnataka and Kalyana Karnataka. He expressed concern over delays in the coach factory project, which could stimulate industrial growth in the Kolar region, and noted that Karnataka is awaiting ₹2,860 crore in grants for the financial year 2025-26, despite meeting all conditions. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of timely fund disbursal for rural infrastructure and stressed that addressing these long-pending issues is essential for Karnataka's growth and cooperative federalism.
