The Bengaluru Suburban Transport Project (BSTP) has achieved significant cost savings of approximately ₹169 crore through its innovative double-decker corridor plan at Benniganahalli, according to K-Ride, the implementing agency. This engineering solution not only reduced project costs but also preserved 1.6 acres of residential land, preventing the displacement of around 600 residents. The corridor will accommodate both the suburban rail and Namma Metro's Blue Line, running parallel for about half a kilometer. The project features a unique multi-level transport corridor and integrates two distinct electrical traction systems, vetted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc). Additionally, K-Ride is working on constructing an elevated structure that will connect the suburban rail line to Yeshwantpur Metro and railway stations, enhancing the area's transit hub capabilities. The construction contract has been awarded to CEM India, with challenges anticipated due to the ongoing redevelopment of Yeshwantpur railway station.
