A major fire broke out on Saturday night at a polystyrene manufacturing unit, Kiran Packaging Industry, located in the Mujesar industrial area of Faridabad, Haryana, India. The fire quickly spread to two neighboring factories, Omega Bright Steel Industry and Envosafe Aqua Solutions, due to the presence of highly combustible thermocol sheets. Fire department officials received the first call about the blaze around 11 PM, and 18 fire tenders were dispatched from all six fire stations in the city, along with additional support from the Indian Air Force and National Thermal Power Corporation Limited. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as workers evacuated the premises promptly. The fire caused significant destruction, with losses expected to be in the crores, affecting machinery, stock, and structures. Firefighters managed to control the blaze after about four hours of intense efforts. Authorities are now evaluating whether adequate safety measures were in place, especially following a previous fire incident in February that resulted in multiple fatalities. This incident occurred amid ongoing protests by firefighters in Haryana over various demands, including recognition for those who lost their lives in earlier fire incidents.
