The Supreme Court of India is set to hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) challenging the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) new policy that mandates the study of three languages, including at least two Indian languages, for 9th-grade students. The petitioners, including students and parents, argue that this policy could lead to chaos in schools.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट अगले हफ्ते केंद्रीय माध्यमिक शिक्षा बोर्ड (CBSE) की नई भाषा नीति के खिलाफ दायर जनहित याचिका (PIL) पर सुनवाई करेगा। इस नीति के तहत 9वीं कक्षा के छात्रों के लिए तीन भाषाओं की पढ़ाई अनिवार्य की गई है, जिसमें कम से कम दो भारतीय भाषाएं शामिल हैं। वरिष्ठ वकील मुकुल रोहतगी ने इस मामले को चीफ जस्टिस सूर्यकांत और अन्य जजों के सामने पेश किया, और कहा कि यह एक जरूरी याचिका है। याचिकाकर्ता छात्र, शिक्षक और माता-पिता हैं, जो इस नीति को चुनौती दे रहे हैं। रोहतगी ने कहा कि इससे स्कूलों में अफरा-तफरी मच जाएगी। सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने इस मामले को अगले सप्ताह सुनवाई के लिए लिस्ट करने का आश्वासन दिया है। CBSE की नई नीति के अनुसार, छात्रों को 1 जुलाई से शुरू होने वाले नए शैक्षणिक वर्ष से तीन भाषाएं पढ़नी होंगी। यह नियम 2026-27 शैक्षणिक वर्ष से लागू होगा और स्कूलों को तीसरी भाषा चुनने के लिए 31 मई तक का समय दिया गया है। इस नीति को लेकर उठ रहे सवालों के कारण इसे लेकर व्यापक चिंताएं हैं।
