In a disturbing case from Mumbai, a couple has been arrested by the Andheri police for the alleged murder of their elderly relative, Blance Sequeira. Sequeira, a resident of Sahar, was reported missing in January, and her decomposed body was discovered later that month by civic workers during a drain cleaning operation. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) notified the police, leading to a murder investigation. Initially, the police registered a case against unidentified persons after the post-mortem. However, during questioning, the police grew suspicious of Sequeira's brother, Joseph Thomas Coelho, and his wife, Maria Joseph Coelho, due to their unsatisfactory responses. Upon sustained interrogation, the couple allegedly confessed to assaulting Sequeira during a family dispute and disposing of her body in an open drain outside their residence. The couple has been presented in court and remanded to police custody for four days as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
