Mohammed Salim Dola, aged 59, was extradited to India from Turkiye and taken into custody by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. His extradition was part of 'Operation Global-Hunt', which involved close collaboration between Indian and international intelligence agencies. Dola, a close associate of notorious underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim, has a long criminal history involving significant drug trafficking operations across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. He is wanted for prosecution in several narcotics cases in India and had been evading law enforcement for years. A Red Corner Notice was issued against him by INTERPOL at India's request in March 2024. Dola's criminal activities include supplying various drugs like heroin and methamphetamine. Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the operation, reinforcing the government's commitment to combating drug syndicates.
