The Special Operations Group (SOG) in Rajasthan has uncovered a large-scale fraud within the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS), which aims to provide free healthcare services to the public and government employees. The scheme was exploited by a network of doctors and laboratory operators who generated fake prescriptions and diagnostic reports, leading to financial losses estimated in crores for the state. Two individuals, Dr. Kamal Kumar Agrawal, an associate professor in orthopaedics at SK Hospital in Sikar, and Dr. Banwari Lal, a private lab operator in Sikar, have been arrested. The investigation revealed that unnecessary diagnostic tests, such as expensive MRI scans, were prescribed without patient examinations. In some cases, reports were manipulated and claims were submitted for tests that never occurred. The SOG has initiated a thorough investigation to uncover further involvement of other medical professionals and lab staff, emphasizing that these fraudulent actions have not only harmed the state's finances but also affected legitimate beneficiaries of the scheme.
