The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has confirmed that a viral image of a soldier destroying a Jesus statue in southern Lebanon is authentic. The military condemned the act, stating it is inconsistent with the values expected of its personnel. The incident, which occurred in Debel near the Litani River, involved the soldier striking the statue with a sledgehammer while it was placed upside down against a pole. The statue belonged to a family from the Maronite Christian community and was situated on private property. The IDF has initiated an investigation through its Northern Command and promised appropriate disciplinary measures against those responsible.
