On Sunday, the United States Navy seized the Iranian-flagged cargo vessel M/V Touska in the Sea of Oman while it was en route to Bandar Abbas, Iran. The USS Spruance (DDG-111) intercepted the ship after it ignored multiple warnings over a six-hour period. Following continued non-compliance, the US Navy disabled the vessel's engine by firing rounds into its engine room and later boarded the ship, placing it under US custody. This seizure is part of the US's ongoing blockade enforcement operations, during which 25 commercial vessels have been directed to return to Iranian ports. In response to the incident, Iranian forces launched drones toward US warships, escalating tensions in the region. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that US forces had previously targeted an Iranian merchant vessel, accusing the US of maritime piracy. The situation remains tense, with both sides exchanging accusations regarding maritime security and control over shipping routes in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
