In New Agar Nagar, Punjab, a tragic incident unfolded when Surinder Singh, a 66-year-old retired Army Havildar, allegedly shot his 38-year-old son, Gursharan Singh, during a heated argument over Surinder's relationship with a woman. Surinder, who had been considering remarriage after his wife's death, faced strong opposition from Gursharan. Neighbors reported frequent disputes between them regarding this issue. On Sunday night, the argument escalated, leading Surinder to retrieve his licensed 12-bore double-barrel gun. Gursharan attempted to flee but was pursued and shot by his father. Following the shooting, Surinder returned home and consumed poison, ultimately dying in the Civil Hospital during treatment. Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and police have seized the firearm. The investigation is ongoing, with Gursharan's sisters living abroad informed of the incident.
