A sessions court in Nashik, Maharashtra, India, has rejected the anticipatory bail application of Nida Khan, a TCS employee implicated in a case involving allegations of sexual harassment and hurting religious sentiments. Khan, who is pregnant, is the only accused yet to be arrested among eight individuals named in nine FIRs filed by Nashik city police between March 26 and April 3, 2023. The allegations surfaced in February when a local political party worker claimed that a Hindu woman at the TCS BPO office was coerced into adopting Islamic practices. Following this, police conducted an undercover operation at the BPO, leading to formal legal action. The first FIR, lodged at Deolali camp police station, includes serious charges such as rape and violations of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The prosecution alleges that Khan facilitated the religious conversion of a victim by providing her with a burqa and religious literature. TCS has stated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and has suspended the employees involved in the allegations. The company has engaged Deloitte and law firm Trilegal for an independent investigation.
