In a significant enforcement action, the estate officer of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) issued a payment of ₹1,31,510 (approximately $1,570 USD) to Jang Bahadur Singh, a resident of Aerocity, Mohali, after a court warrant officer initiated proceedings to attach the office's assets due to non-compliance with court orders. The dramatic events unfolded when the officer from the Permanent Lok Adalat (PLA) arrived to enforce a previous ruling that mandated compensation for Singh, who had purchased a plot in 2018 but received no basic infrastructure services. The PLA had awarded ₹1,25,000 on October 31, 2023, with interest accrued at 6% per annum. Following the estate officer's failure to comply with this ruling, the PLA ordered the attachment of office assets, prompting immediate action. GMADA's chief administrator, Sakshi Sahney, issued a show-cause notice to the estate officer after being informed of the situation, leading to the expedited payment to Singh's son, Navpreet Singh. The total amount due will continue to accrue interest until fully paid, ensuring compliance with the court's directive.
