Anthropic has announced a significant partnership with SpaceX, allowing the AI company to utilize the Colossus 1 data center, which will enhance its Claude Code service. This collaboration will double the rate limits for paid users, including those on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. Additionally, the deal will remove peak hour restrictions for Pro and Max users and considerably increase API rate limits for Claude Opus models. The Colossus 1 data center is expected to add over 300 megawatts of compute capacity within the month. Furthermore, Anthropic has shown interest in collaborating with SpaceX to develop multiple gigawatts of orbital AI compute capacity, as SpaceX aims to launch a million satellites to create an orbital data center. Despite past criticisms from Elon Musk regarding Anthropic's leadership, he recently expressed admiration for the team and their commitment to ensuring Claude is beneficial for humanity.
