The much-anticipated Superfast train service connecting Bengaluru in Karnataka and Mumbai in Maharashtra is expected to launch in June 2024. Announced by Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, this new service will operate along a route that includes key cities such as Tumakuru, Davanagere, Haveri, Hubballi-Dharwad, and Belagavi. The Ministry of Railways approved this second direct Superfast train nearly 30 years after the introduction of the Udyan Express. This initiative is expected to significantly benefit lakhs of passengers and stimulate trade and commerce between these two major urban centers. Additionally, Joshi mentioned plans to convert this service into a Vande Bharat Sleeper train in the near future, enhancing the overnight travel experience for passengers. The new train, developed by BEML using technology from the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, will feature a distinctive orange and grey design and will run between KSR Bengaluru and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai.
