The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-UG 2026, conducted across Bihar on Sunday, was characterized by a moderately difficult overall paper, with many students finding the physics section particularly challenging. Out of 1.60 lakh candidates scheduled to appear at 142 examination centres in 35 districts, the attendance rate was impressive at 96%, with Patna recording 97% attendance across its 96 centres. The three-hour pen-and-paper test took place under strict security protocols, including thorough checks and admit card verification. Post-exam reactions were mixed; while some students felt the paper was manageable, many expressed difficulty, particularly in physics, leading to unanswered questions. Shweta Singh, a medical aspirant, noted that biology was easier compared to physics, while Nikita Vats, who took the exam for the second time, found it easier than the previous year. Experts suggest that cut-off marks for government medical colleges may exceed 640 for general category candidates and 550 for reserved category students, while around 500 marks could suffice for private colleges. The exam questions were primarily based on the NCERT syllabus for classes XI and XII.
