The first round of admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for Class 1 in private primary schools across Gujarat is set to be declared today. A total of 83,000 seats are reserved under the 25% RTE quota, with approximately 1.8 lakh eligible applicants vying for admission. The application window, which ran from April 4 to April 17 and was extended to April 23, received around 2.4 lakh applications. After scrutiny, 54,588 applications were rejected, and 2,034 were disqualified due to incomplete documentation, leaving 1,85,878 approved applications. Parents will be notified of seat allotments via their registered mobile numbers, and students who receive seats must confirm admission at their respective schools. A second round will follow to fill any remaining vacant seats. The largest share of available seats is in Gujarati medium schools, with over 41,000 seats, closely followed by English medium institutions with about 40,000 seats. Other mediums include Hindi, Odia, Marathi, and Urdu, with Gujarati medium accounting for the highest number of seats and Urdu the lowest.
