The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the alleged leak of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG) 2026 examination paper, which was held on May 3. Following a complaint from the Ministry of Education, the CBI registered a First Information Report (FIR) citing offences such as criminal conspiracy, cheating, and violations under various laws including the Prevention of Corruption Act. The examination, which saw participation from over 2 million students across 551 cities in India and 15 cities abroad, has been canceled due to the leak. The CBI has formed special teams to investigate the extent of the irregularities and the involvement of individuals and entities associated with the exam. Officials from the National Testing Agency (NTA) are cooperating with the investigation, and statements from involved personnel will be recorded.
