The Maharashtra government plans to expand its pod taxi network, initially proposed for Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), to Thane and Mira-Bhayandar. This personal rapid transit (PRT) system aims to enhance last-mile connectivity, with a total estimated cost of ₹5,062 crore across both cities, targeting rollout by 2028.

Following the initiation of the pod taxi project in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), the Maharashtra government is expanding this innovative transportation system to Thane and Mira-Bhayandar. The proposed personal rapid transit (PRT) network aims to bridge last-mile connectivity gaps, integrating seamlessly with the expanding Metro network. In Thane, the project will cover 43.5 km with 72 stations, connecting key areas such as Majiwada and Hiranandani Estate, at an estimated cost of ₹2,806 crore. Meanwhile, Mira-Bhayandar will feature a 32.5-km network with 29 stations, costing around ₹2,256 crore. The first phases in both cities are tentatively set for rollout by 2028. Each pod taxi will accommodate 16 to 20 passengers, operating at speeds of 60 to 70 km/h, and is expected to handle over 17,000 passengers per hour. The BKC project, which is already under construction, will feature an 8.85-km elevated network aimed at alleviating congestion in the business district, with a completion target of 2031.
