India's telecommunications sector experienced significant growth in March 2026, adding 9.28 million new subscribers and bringing the total to 1,330.58 million. The wireless segment was the primary driver, contributing 9.02 million new connections, while wireline services added 0.25 million. The broadband sector also hit a notable milestone, reaching 1,065.88 million subscribers, with 6.83 million new users added. Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. led the broadband market with 523.44 million subscribers, followed by Bharti Airtel Ltd. at 368.84 million and Vodafone Idea Ltd. at 128.91 million. The urban areas accounted for 778.79 million subscribers, while rural areas had 551.79 million. Notably, rural wireless subscriptions grew at 0.74%, slightly outpacing urban growth at 0.68%. The overall tele-density in India rose to 93.26%, with urban tele-density at 151.47% and rural at 60.46%.
