The Andhra Pradesh government, under Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has set a target of ₹1.27 lakh crore in own revenue for the fiscal year 2026-27. This follows a revenue increase from ₹1,04,345 crore in 2024-25 to ₹1,10,643 crore in 2025-26, marking a growth of approximately six percent. Major contributors to this revenue included ₹33,679 crore from Goods and Services Tax, ₹10,300 crore from the Mines Department, and ₹11,047 crore from the Stamps and Registration Department. Naidu emphasized the importance of using technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence, to enhance revenue collection and compliance. He urged departments to adopt innovative mechanisms to eliminate tax evasion and improve monitoring systems. Additionally, Naidu highlighted the need for district-level economic expansion to accelerate overall revenue growth and achieve fiscal targets more efficiently. The chief minister also called for the rationalization of municipal taxes and the use of advanced mapping technologies to identify unauthorized constructions, which can improve tax assessments and collections.
