The India-Africa Forum Summit, scheduled for May 31 in New Delhi, will bring together top leaders from African nations to discuss enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including trade, defence, and critical minerals. This fourth summit follows a gap of over ten years since the last one in October 2015. India has significantly increased its diplomatic presence in Africa, opening 17 new missions since 2018, totaling 46 missions. The summit aims to align India's vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 with Africa's Agenda 2063. India is a key player in Africa, providing more than $10 billion in lines of credit to 41 African states, supporting projects in power, agriculture, and digital connectivity. Trade between India and Africa reached $81.99 billion in 2024-25, with Indian exports valued at $42.6 billion. The summit is expected to foster a forward-looking partnership with a strong developmental framework.
