The electric SUV market in India is heating up with the launch of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Hyundai Creta Electric. The e Vitara is available with two battery options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh, providing a remarkable range of 543 km. It offers engine configurations of 144 bhp and 171 bhp, along with a peak torque of 189 Nm. In contrast, the Hyundai Creta Electric features two battery packs of 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh, with ranges of 420 km and 510 km, and power outputs of 132.7 bhp and 168.9 bhp respectively. Both vehicles come equipped with a plethora of features aimed at enhancing the driving experience. The e Vitara includes a dual-tone interior, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a PM 2.5 air filter, while the Creta Electric offers dual-zone climate control, vehicle-to-load capabilities, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Pricing is another significant factor; the e Vitara starts at ₹15.99 lakh (approximately $19,300 USD), while the Creta Electric is priced at ₹18.02 lakh (approximately $21,800 USD). Notably, the e Vitara can be purchased for as low as ₹10.99 lakh with the Battery as a Service (BaaS) payment plan.
