At the Civil Services Day event held at Vigyan Bhawan, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) presented the PM Vishwakarma initiative, which focuses on empowering traditional artisans and craftspeople in India. Moderated by Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner of MSME, the session highlighted the initiative's vision of sustainable livelihoods through a digital and paperless framework. S.C.L. Das, Secretary of MSME, reported that the initiative has achieved over 30 lakh registrations and received the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2024. Debashree Mukherjee, Secretary of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, noted that over 23 lakh beneficiaries have completed basic training, with advanced programs in progress to enhance skills and productivity. The initiative also emphasizes financial inclusion, with collateral-free credit options discussed by Manoj Muttathil Ayyappan, Joint Secretary of Financial Services. Additionally, India Post has successfully delivered over 15 lakh toolkits nationwide using a digital tracking system. The session concluded with discussions on how the convergence of skilling, finance, technology, and market access is strengthening grassroots entrepreneurship under PM Vishwakarma.
